Quick note on how this is going to work:-
Each day, I will (try to) post my "Song of the Day". I didn't want my other blog - link in the "Links to me" page - to come too clogged up with music as it was in danger of doing, so I've decided to start a blog dedicated to the songs that I love. The song of the day will be chosen for different reasons; whatever's been stuck in my head, a song I particularly love, one that's reflected my day, one that I think more people should hear, a review of a new one. Whatever. But whatever it is, I hope you enjoy it!
So the honour of my very first "Song of the Day" goes to an artist that I am not going to assume for a single second that you have heard of and I'm not going to say you should listen to him because you should do what you want to do, but I would highly recommend him. He's a quite small time singer from Devon (same as me! :D ) called Cosmo Jarvis and I was introduced to him by some friends that are really into their small time bands/singers. He's had a couple albums out that I find have really varied songs on, the style of which change so much that I think he's open to a pretty wide audience.
Crazy Screwed Up Lady - Cosmo Jarvis
I know Cosmo isn't to everyone's taste, but I love his voice. This song was probably one of the first that I fell in love with and it's one I keep coming back to. Although the actual lyrics are bordering on dark, in terms of sound, it's really upbeat and sounds so cheerful - perfect for popping in your headphones and blasting. The chorus is one that is just amazing for singing shouting along to and I'm not really sure why, but the drumming really makes me happy! Well done drummer.
This is just a really upbeat, catchy song that will have your friends wondering why you're randomly singing "I think you're gonna be okay you crazy screwed up la-a-a-a-dy" because you will be - get out of my head!!
Favourite Lyrics:
And every step she takes,
Her tears make her appear like a pretty mime.
No one blinks.
Ps. You can find Cosmo on twitter at @CosmoJarvis if anyone is interested

I do love this song, it's a shame he didn't play it in Plymouth.
ReplyDeleteOne question though, is it really "upbeat"? I know the chorus is about being ok but the rest? I don't know, maybe I'm over-thinking it
